Two Teens Charged In Silver Spring Auto Theft, Kidnapping: Police
Two teens from Washington, D.C. have been charged in connection with a car theft and kidnapping in Silver Spring on June 16.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Two 15-year-olds from northeast Washington, D.C., have been charged with auto theft and kidnapping-related offenses in Silver Spring, the Montgomery County Police Department said.
A woman was at a gas station in the 8600 block of Georgia Avenue around 9:30 a.m. on June 16 when got out of her car to use the air pump station, while her 2-year-old sat in the backseat. As she inserted money into the machine, a male jumped into the driver's seat and drove away, police said.
A witness told police they followed the car onto Colesville Road, where they saw the car stop to let in another male, before stopping again. The two people then got out and ran away, police said, leaving the 2-year-old unharmed.

Police say they saw two people who looked like the suspects in the area of Fenton Street and Veterans Place in Silver Spring. Officers say they made the arrests after a brief foot chase. The two boys are being charged as juveniles.
