White Oak Liquor Store Closes After Worker Gets COVID-19

A Montgomery County-run liquor store in Silver Spring is temporarily closed after an employee tests positive for COVID-19.

SILVER SPRING, MD — The White Oak Liquor and Wine store in Silver Spring is temporarily closed after an employee tested positive for COVID-19, officials announced Tuesday.

Montgomery County's Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) was made aware of the positive test on Saturday, according to a press release, and the store was closed immediately. The employee's last day at work was Thursday. The county said some employees had to quarantine as a result.

"A specialized team was brought in to disinfect the store," the press release stated. "This deep cleaning involved chemical fogging and manual wiping down of all products and high contact surfaces in the store."

County officials said the store, which is located at 11239 New Hampshire Ave., will reopen on Wednesday, Dec. 30, pending the availability of staff.
