Winter Weather Nov. 15: What's Open, Closed In Montgomery Co.

Patch has reached out to local governments and businesses and compiled a list of schedule changes on Nov. 15 because of winter weather.

SILVER SPRING, MD — The first snow of the season has prompted city and Montgomery County officials Thursday to close school, cancel community programs and classes, and delay transportation services. Patch has reached out to local governments and businesses and compiled a list of schedule changes. The list, which is broken down by city, only applies to Thursday, Nov. 15.

Montgomery County

County government departments and offices are open during their regular business hours, according to officials. Non-essential staff members are granted optional liberal leave.

Public schools in Montgomery County are closed.

All county recreation classes, program, and activities are canceled, according to the Montgomery County Recreation website. Aquatic and recreation centers will be open, but only for drop-in activities. The country recommends residents to call centers to learn more about Thursday's drop-in schedule.

Senior centers and programs are canceled.

Montgomery County public libraries are open until 9 p.m., weather permitting. Library employees said updates will be posted on its website.

The county's Department of Transportation said it will be operating on a normal weekday schedule.

Silver Spring

Montgomery College announced it is closed.

Rockville

The Annual Turkey Trot at Rockville's Senior Center is canceled, according to the city's website. As of now, all other evening events will take place. Click here to see a full list of events.

Senior Center's classes and bus pick-ups are canceled. The city also announced that Croydon Creek Nature Center and community centers will be opening two hours late. Other facilities in the city will be open on a regular schedule.

The City of Rockville said there are no changes to parking.

Bethesda

Montgomery Westfield Mall is open during regular business hours. The mall closes at 9 p.m.

Gaithersburg

The following updates are from the City of Gaithersburg's website.

Benjamin Gaither Center (BGC), Community Museum and Youth Centers, and Gaithersburg Aquatic Center are closed. Classes are canceled, with the exception of evening classes at the BGC (a decision will be made by 2:30 p.m.).

The Activity Center at Bohrer Park is open (pending weather conditions; the director will advise).

Casey Community Center is open. There will be no Tot Time, however.

All activities at school sites are canceled.

City-sponsored morning and afternoon classes before 2:30 p.m. at city facilities are canceled. A decision will be made about the status of evening programs and classes at 2:30 p.m.

The City of Gaithersburg said there are no changes to parking.

Germantown

Montgomery College announced it is closed.
