Alleged Student Assault By Substitute Being Probed By Andover School Officials

Police say no charges have been filed.

ANDOVER, MA — School officials are investigating an allegation that Doherty Middle School student was assaulted on Tuesday by a substitute teacher, the Eagle-Tribune reports.

Andover's Superintendent Schools Sheldon Berman told the Eagle-Tribune the incident involved a substitute teacher.

"What I would say is, it was conduct in more statements that were made that we're looking into and what we're calling more concerning behaviors and statements," Berman told the Eagle-Tribune.

He said they were still in the process of investigating the incident, and would share information when that review was finished.

"We interview the student, and we interview other staff," Berman said. "The principal does the interviews, and then the principal meets with the substitute teacher, and you make a determination based on what you learn from the investigations."
