Andover DIVERSE Statement On Asian And Asian American/Pacific Islander Discrimination And Hate
'We acknowledge the AAPI community has experienced heightened racism and violence throughout the pandemic.'
March 24, 2021
Andover DIVERSE sends our support and condolences to our Asian and Asian American/Pacific Islander (AAPI) neighbors, friends, and community members affected by the horrific acts of violence to their communities. The eight murders in Atlanta, Georgia, six of which were perpetrated against Asian-American women leave us heartbroken and sad.

We acknowledge the AAPI community has experienced heightened racism and violence throughout the pandemic. Sadly, hatred and discrimination against Asian Americans is nothing new in our country - whether it is a history of immigration laws and internment camps or stereotypical depictions or name-calling and slurs; we must work harder to learn about the experiences of our AAPI community members and fight together for social change.
