Andover Garden Club Presents “Art and Spirit In The Garden”
April 2 Meeting, Open to the Public, Will Focus on Irish and Scottish Garden Influences
Award-winning landscape designer and sculptor Karin Stanley, who designs modern sculpture by tapping into Irish and Scottish influences of light, stone, and air, will discuss creating meaningful, spirit-filled gardens using appropriate plants, lighting, sculptures, water, and other elements. The event, to be held April 2 at South Church (41 Central St, Andover MA) will begin at 10:00 AM with social time and refreshments, followed by a brief meeting and the lecture.
Irish-born Stanley is a passionate observer of the changing landscape in Ireland and Scotland, and she spends time there annually to draw inspiration from the language of the land, the light, the stone, and the air. Her interest in Celtic archaeology, Megalithic art, the Arts and Crafts Period, and the history of Irish and Scottish gardens inform her work in garden sculpture and design.
Her commissions have been installed in a number of locations in the United States, as well as in Perth, Australia. In Massachusetts, her work can be seen at the multifaith chapel at Wellesley College and at the Massachusetts Horticultural society, where her Celtic sundial is installed.
