Andover Halloween 2020: What You Need To Know

The town set trick-or-treating hours and is encouraging residents to take care not to spread the coronavirus.

ANDOVER, MA — Andover officials set the town's 2020 trick-or-treating hours, Monday, and ask that residents follow CDC guidelines for Halloween.

The Select Board voted to set 5 to 7 p.m. as the recommended trick-or-treating hours. The CDC is classifying trick-or-treating as a high risk activity for the coronavirus, so the board encouraged residents to exercise caution.

Anyone who does not want to participate should keep their outside lights off on Oct. 31. Those who are participating should only go to houses with the lights on.

Board members discussed alternatives to traditional trick-or-treating, such as trick-or-treating within pods or leaving candy outside rather than handing it out.

Health Director Tom Carbone suggested that the Board revisit the issue if the town becomes a high-risk community, under state rules.
