ANDOVER, MA — Andover residents could see their annual tax bill go up if town officials get the green light to purchase two parcels of land near Interstate 93.

The two pieces of land, located at 138 and 140 Chandler Rd., make up a combined total of 44.41 acres that would be used for a variety of community resources, town officials said.

The potential buy, which was appraised at market value, comes with a price tag of a little more than $4 million, a town report shows.

The annual impact to a resident's average tax bill would be almost $16 beginning in 2023 to help fund the purchase, according to the town.

At the 2021 annual town meeting scheduled for this Saturday, Andover officials hope to win over residents' approval during a vote on Article 35. If the article passes, town officials would like to eventually transform some of the land into a community park.
