Andover Schools Reach Agreement With Teachers, But Not IAs
Mediation between the instructional assistants and the School Committee will continue in July, the committee said.

ANDOVER, MA — The Andover School Committee reached an agreement with the Andover Education Association on teachers' contracts but not instructional assistants, the committee said Friday.
The union is expected to vote on the teachers' contract early this week, the committee said, while mediation with the instructional assistants will continue in July.
Negotiations with both groups included a Massachusetts Teachers Association representative.

"The Committee and AEA/MTA have been engaged in contract negotiations since March of 2020,
including three recent sessions with the assistance of a state mediator," the committee said.

Both groups have been working under expired contracts since Aug. 2020.
Details on the agreement with teachers and the committee's proposals to the instructional assistants are available in district releases.
The committee voted Friday to return to the town the money set aside for 2020-2021 school year pay increases to the instructions assistants, as there will not be a contract in place by the end of the relevant fiscal year June 30.
