Andover Students Reach Finals in High School Drama Festival

Andover students excited to compete.

ANDOVER - Andover High School's has advanced to the state finals of the Massachusetts Education Theatre Guilding 's High School Drama Festival on March 30 and April 1 at the John Hancock Hall in Boston.

Last weekend was the state semi-finals after which 14 schools, including Andover, advanced to the finals.

Those schools are: Stoneham High School, Andover, Peabody, Sharon, Chelmsford, Acton-Boxboro, Winthrop, Saugus, Framingham, Case, SJ Prep, Bromfield, Taunton, and Bourne.

Each school judged on their performance of a one-act play. Andover is performing “True Places: a play about maps” by playwright Walt McGough who lives in the Boston area, according to AHS Director of Theatre Arts Director Susan Leland-Smith Choquette.

This is Andover’s fifth trip to state finals and the fourth trip in the last six years, she said.

“The entire creative team is incredibly proud of and grateful for the hard work on the part of the cast and crew that has led to this trip to State Finals, Choquette said.
