Clown Town Slide Closed After Two Kids Receive Minor Injuries

Two children were cut due to loose rivet on a slide.

ANDOVER, MA -- A slide was closed at Clown Town on Saturday after two children cut themselves due to what was reportedly a loose rivet, according to the Eagle-Tribune.

The two children were taken to Lawrence General Hospital after cutting their hands.

"The cuts were relatively minor and the children were treated and released," Lt. Edward Guy, spokesman for the Andover police, told the Eagle- Tribune.

''There was a loose rivet that was found, a pop rivet along the side, and the kids caught their hand on it," Larry Cushing, owner of Cushing Amusements of Wilmington, told the Eagle- Tribune.

The company has been hosting rides and games at Clown Town for more than 35 years.

The 61st annual Clown Town is a two-day event run by the Andona Society to raise money for local schools and youth programs.

The Andover building inspector and the state inspector were notified of the incident.
