Gas Leak At Central And Brook Streets, No Safety Risk: Police

ANDOVER, MA — Central Street is closed due to a gas leak, Andover police said Wednesday.

The police posted at 11:14 a.m. that Central was closed from Chestnut Street to Essex Street with a gas leak.

A gas pipe was punctured during construction on Brook Street near Central, police spokesman Lt. Ed Guy said.

There is no danger to the public and there were no injuries, Guy said. There was no risk to nearby buildings or the St. Augustine School.

Guy was not aware of any evacuations.

The police and fire departments were on the scene, Guy said. The closure will likely last a couple of hours, he said.
