Man Seriously Injured In Crash That Closed Both Sides Of I-495
It took rescue workers 55 minutes to free a man in his twenties from his car after it wrapped around a tree.

ANDOVER, MA — Both sides of Interstate 495 in Andover were shut down for more than 20 minutes Monday afternoon after a car veered off the northbound side, rolled onto its side and was partially wrapped around a tree. The driver and lone occupant of the car was trapped in the vehicle. After he was freed, he was taken to a Boston hospital by helicopter.
It took rescue workers 55 minutes to free the man from the vehicle, according to Andover Fire Services. In addition to the road closure in both directions for 20 minutes, the northbound side remained closed for 55 minutes.
The identity of the driver was not released, but officials said he was in his twenties and had life-threatening injuries. Massachusetts State Police are investigating the crash.
