I-93 Lanes Closed As Crashes Pile Up On Icy Roads

Several highway crashes have been reported Tuesday morning after a night of sleet and freezing rain.

ANDOVER, MA — Lanes on I-93 are closed following one of several crashes on icy roads across Massachusetts.

One crash reported after 6 a.m. on I-93 South prior to Exit 42 in Andover closed the high-speed travel lanes in both directions.

There were also multiple-car crashes on I-495 South in Haverhill and Route 3 North in Duxbury.

The speed limit on the Mass Pike has been reduced to 40 miles per hour from Weston to the New York border.

The Department of Transportation has 547 pieces of equipment on roads across the state treating the slick roads.

There are also some 3,000 customers in the state without power, the majority of which are in Marshfield.

The icy precipitation is expected to stick around through the morning, exiting the coast by midday.

Monday night saw a slew of crashes, with the state closing I-95 in Burlington after a number of spinouts.
