ANDOVER, MA -- J.P. Licks, the ice cream chain with 16 stores in greater Boston, is coming to Andover. The company is scheduled to appear before the Andover Board of Health Monday to get permission for a grease interceptor as it eyes a spring opening for its newest location at 28 Park Street.

J.P. Licks is taking over a storefront last occupied by Orange Leaf. The chain started in Jamaica Plain in Boston in 1981. It now has six locations in Boston and ten locations in suburbs. Its expansion outside of Boston has primarily targeted higher end bedroom communities, including Newton, Chestnut Hill, Lynnfield and Wellesley.
