Callers claim to represent Eversource and threaten the potential victims' power.
ANDOVER, MA — Andover police warned Thursday of a utility scam, where the scammer claims to work for Eversource and threatens to turn off the potential victim's power.
One resident received such a call recently, the police said on Facebook. The caller gave an "employee number" and said the resident owed money.
"This is a scam!" the police said. "National Grid is the sole electrical provider in Andover, and they will not threaten you over the phone to pay a bill."
