Spring Fishing Means Summer is Coming

It's time for the Andover DCS Fishing Workshop on Pomps Pond!

It’s still snowing in April, but kids and families alike can begin to see signs of the seasons changing when it’s time for the Andover DCS Fishing Workshop on Pomps Pond.

This year’s workshop will take place on Friday, May 8th, an Early Release Day for the Andover schools, from 1:30-3:30 pm at Pomps Pond off Abbot Street in Andover. This fun afternoon of fishing and enjoying the spring weather gives even novice anglers a chance to learn fishing instructions, baiting, and casting practice. Jim Lagacy of Mass Wildlife Angler Education will instruct kids ages 7-14 on the techniques of fishing before the kids are able to take time to bait lines and fish on their own.

Fishing rods are provided for anyone who does not have one. Space for this program is limited and pre-registration is required. Pomps Pond does not open until June for the summer, but this is a great way to get into the summer spirit and get ready for sunnier weather! The program costs just $15 per child and parents are encouraged to attend and help bait the lines if they choose!

For more information or registration go to AndoverDCS.com or call 978-623-8274.
