With State Blessing, Local Golf Courses Begin To Reopen

Golf courses in Andover, Tewksbury and Woburn reopened Thursday, within hours of Gov. Charlie Baker saying they could.

ANDOVER, MA — Golf courses in Andover, Tewksbury and Woburn began reopening Thursday, after more than a month under a state closure order.

Golf courses were part of a statewide order closing non-essential businesses beginning March 24. But Gov. Charlie Baker announced Thursday that they could reopen immediately, more than a week before other businesses can start opening up. Massachusetts would have been the only state without open golf courses, once New Hampshire's reopen Monday.

Woburn Country club reopened at noon, Thursday.

Andover Country Club reopened its golf course at noon Thursday, the Club said.

Tewksbury Country Club reopened Thursday morning.

Tewskbury's Trull Brook Golf Course opened at 11 a.m. Thursday.

The courses are following guidelines put in place for reopening, including 15 minutes between tee times, max group size of four and no carts or caddies. See the full list of restrictions here.

Other local courses did not respond to requests for opening status. This story will be updated with further information when its available.
