Thursday's Rain Causes Awful, Tuesday Morning Commute In Andover
The town had to finish a portion of the Dascomb Road repaving work Tuesday morning that had been scheduled for Thursday night.
ANDOVER, MA — The best-laid plans of mice, men and traffic engineers often go awry. The town of Andover made the decision to schedule Dascomb Road repaving work for the overnight hours last Thursday and Friday, saying that the option was chosen to minimize disruption in the neighborhood. But all those plans were washed away with an overnight rain storm Thursday, which canceled Thursday night's work.
As a result, crews were back on the road after the three-day weekend Tuesday morning trying to repave the remaining stretch of Dascomb Road. And that lead to road closures, delays and social media venting as commuters tired to get to work and parents tried to get kids to school.
"The postponement was done in an effort to provide the highest quality for our residents and the traveling public," the town said in an update on its Website. "We look forward to the successful completion of this project and thank the residents for their patience and cooperation."
