Traffic Alert: New Traffic Lanes on I-93 North in Methuen

New traffick configuration begins Monday morning, May 15 and continues through August.

METHUEN – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is alerting drivers that starting on Monday, May 15 and continuing through August, a new traffic configuration on I-93 in the area of the Route 110/113 interchange in Methuen will go into effect.

The new configuration will shift the traffic lanes on I-93 northbound to the left to create a permanent work zone and remove portions of the existing bridges that carried I-93 over the former rotary.

This traffic configuration will remain in place through August.

In order to implement the new traffic configuration, there will be lane closures on I-93 northbound during the off-peak evening hours on Sunday, May 14, through the early morning on Monday, May 15. The following lane closures will occur:

· Single Lane Closures on I-93 Northbound from 8:00 p.m., on Sunday, May 14 to 6:00 a.m., on Monday, May 15.

· Double Lane Closures on I-93 Northbound from 10:00 p.m., on Sunday May 14, to 5:00 a.m., on Monday, May 15.

The $66.4 million Methuen Rotary Reconstruction Project is replacing the existing rotary with a partial cloverleaf interchange to improve safety and reduce congestion. For more information about the project, visit the website atmethuenrotary.mhd.state.ma.us
