Union Says Teacher's Firing Was Illegal
The teacher's union at Andover Public Schools is filling a grievance with the labor department in regards to the firing of a teacher involved with the renewal of a teachers' contract.
The Andover Education Assocaiation went before a hearing at the Department of Labor Relations this week in order to restore back pay and benefits to a teacher they said was wrongly terminated, according to the Andover Townsman.
Teacher and union representative Jen Meagher sent out an email last June to teachers suggesting that they can "stall" the accrediation process as a way to gain leverage in the contract negotiations.Â
Meagher was fired on Sept. 17 by School superintendent Marinel McGrath.Â
