5 Things To Know, March 18: Calling Beverly's Downton Abbey Fans

Domestic servitude lecture at Beverly Public Library, American Sign Language classes, and more Beverly news tidbits.

Here are five things to start your day in Beverly:

1. Are you a fan of "Downton Abbey"? Or just a fan of local history? Learn what life was like for real-life domestic servants in the grand homes of New England. Dr. Jennifer Pustz of Historic New England will present an illustrated talk on various types of domestic servitude in three Historic New England properties today at 9:30 a.m. at the Beverly Public Library.

2. Interested in learning American Sign Language? Tonight's program (which varies between five and ten weeks) at Children's Center for Communication/Beverly School for the Deaf begins at 6:30 p.m. Learn more about the class here.

3. Marino's Cafe fans, beware this week: the doors will be closed as the business takes a week-long vacation. When they return their new spring menu will be available.

4. Artrageous!27 The art and objects to be auctioned at Artrageous!27 (April 6, 6pm 300 Jubilee Dr., Peabody) are now available for  viewing and bids. They are at www.montserrat.edu, or directly at www.sp.com/montserratcollege/. 
Remember that no pieces will be sold prior to the event. Highest online bids made on each item will become the opening bid on event night.
