Beverly Cancels Holiday Parade
Parade organizers had planned to honor front line and essential workers at this year's event.
BEVERLY, MA —The Beverly Holiday Parade Committee canceled the annual holiday parade last week.
While the parade is traditionally held on the Sunday after Thanksgiving, organizers opted to cancel nearly four months ahead of time after considering several alternatives to hold some version of the event. Earlier this year, the committee said it would not name a grand marshal but instead use the event to honor frontline and essential workers who worked through the coronavirus crisis.
"Although we will not gather on our downtown streets to thank them, we appreciate everything that they continue to do to keep us all safe and healthy,"the committee said in a statement.
