BEVERLY, MA — Residents in the area east of Montserrat Station in Beverly may have to deal with some disruption this week as National Grid crews work on the transmission lines associated with the commuter rail.

The work will run up to 24 hours a day through Wednesday from Essex Street to Kelleher Road.

The work is to upgrade the signal system for the Rockport line as part of Positive Train Control — a federally required safety control system that reduces speeds when needed and helps to avoid collisions.
