Beverly Fire Crews Knock Down Ryalside Basement Blaze

BEVERLY, MA — Beverly fire crews took about an hour to knock down a house blaze that began in a dryer at a Ryalside residence Monday night.

Fire officials said that around 6:30 p.m. Engines 1 and 5, along with Truck 3, responded to Ryalside and found light smoke coming from the eaves with a resident reporting a fire in the basement.

Crews opened windows and used a positive pressure ventilation fan to push the smoke out of the house.

Other crews used thermal imaging cameras to search the house and make sure there was no heat or fire trapped in the walls on the upper floors.

There were no reported injuries.

Beverly fire said the dryer was dismantled for removal.

Engine 3 covered headquarters downtown while the other two engines were on the call.
