Beverly Man Held Without Bail On First-Degree Murder Charge

An Essex County District Attorney's spokesperson said John Shairs is facing one count of first-degree murder in the death of Tina Amore.

BEVERLY, MA — A Beverly man was held without bail after pleading not guilty to first-degree murder in the death of a woman in December.

John Shairs, 51, is facing one count of first-degree murder in the death of Tina Amore, 49, on Dec. 20, 2020. He pleaded not guilty to the charge in Salem District Court on Tuesday.

Essex County Spokesperson Carrie Kimball told Patch the matter remains under investigation and that there is a probable cause hearing scheduled for May 10.

The 51-year-old Shairs has been in custody since March when he was charged with domestic assault.

Because of the domestic nature of the charge, court files remain sealed at this time.
