Brick with Threat Attached Thrown at Home, Child Locked in Car

The following is an excerpt from the Beverly Police Department activity logs:

Monday, March 11

  • Items were reported stolen from a vehicle at the corner of Rantoul and Wallis Street at 12:09 a.m.
  • Police were called to the area of Washington and Brown Street on report of a person checking out cars at 11:23 a.m.
  • Police were called to Hale Street on report of a suspicious van and person in the area. Police spoke to the person in question, who was doing maintenance work on a house, and determined all was in order.
  • A stove fire was reported on Edwards Street at 3:52 p.m.
  • Police were called to Dane Street Beach at 6:18 p.m. on report of an aggressive doberman. Police checked out the scene and said everything appeared fine.
  • An attempted robbery at Dunkin Donuts was reported on Cabot Street at 6:47 p.m.
  • Police were called to Conant Street on report of theft of vehicle parts at 9:14 p.m. Reports stated a catalytic converter was cut from the car.

Tuesday, March 12

  • A purse was reported stolen from a vehicle that was parked in a garage on Paine Avenue at 12:32 a.m.
  • A concerned resident called police at 1:29 a.m. to report a vehicle that had followed him/her home and drove by the house twice after. The person was unable to get the plate and did not speak to the vehicle's occupants. 
  • Police were called to Cabot Street on report of a man with a "sword" at 9:19 a.m. Police determined the sword in question was an umbrella.
  • A shoplifting incident was reported at Stop & Shop at 10:42 a.m.
  • A person reported a pocket book was stolen from a shopping cart at Stop & Shop at 12:26 p.m.
  • A brick was reportedly thrown at a house, alongside a message that stated "keep the money (expletive)," at 1:12 p.m. Police advised the individual to report any additional suspicious activity, as it was unknown if the message had been directed at the caller.
  • Police were called to Cabot Street at 5:39 p.m. on report of a female yelling and screaming. When police arrived on the scene all was quiet and no one matching the description was located.
  • An individual was reported to be 'aggressively soliciting' was reported on Oakhurt Road at 6:37 p.m. Police advised the individual to get a permit to solicite at City Hall, or he could face fines or potential arrest.

Wednesday, March 13

  • A vehicle was reported vandalized on Russell Street at 8:30 a.m.
  • Threats over the phone were reported at Beverly Hospital at 1:12 p.m.
  • Police were called to a Dodge Street business on report of shoplifters who fled the store at 5:41 p.m.
  • A child was reported locked in a car on Elliott Street at 5:45 p.m. New Beverly Auto Clinic assisted in opening the door.
  • An egg was reported thrown at an Eaton Avenue house at 6:08 p.m.
  • Police were called to the area of Bow and Rantoul Street at 6:22 p.m. on report of people throwing things from a car.
  • Two men were arrested at 6:28 p.m. on Rantoul Street, following an incident where Beverly Police seized an illegal gun found in a vehicle.
  • Police were called to River Street at 6:31 p.m. on report of people who may have been sleeping in a boat. Police reports stated the boat had been vandalized by unknown parties.
  • Police were informed of a suspicious caller who was a solicitor in regard to amber alerts at 6:36 p.m. The person told police the caller had asked about the children living in the residence, and said he 'got her phone number from a friend.'

  • A disturbance in the ER at Beverly Hospital was reported at 3:12 a.m., due to a man who police reports state was bringing complaints to the staff and being difficult. Police told the man to wait his turn.
  • Police were called to Princeton Avenue on report of a residence's door being wide open, despite anyone being home at 1:34 p.m. Police walked through the home and determined everything appeared fine.
