Beverly Police: Beware of Injured Relative Scam
Scammers are reportedly trying to con people in town out of money.
The Beverly Police announced an ongoing scam reported from residents:
INJURED RELATIVE SCAM ALERT
BPD wants to warn all residents about an ongoing scam. DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY!
Callers pose as attorneys and say that a family member has been involved in an accident out of state and has been injured. The caller says the injured relative needs an attorney. The caller then asks the resident to send money to an address in the Dominican Republic. Residents are urged to SEND NO MONEY! THIS IS A SCAM!
Residents should hang up and if desired, contact the relative who is allegedly "injured."
