Beverly Police Find Sawed-Off Shotgun, Stun Gun In Arrest

Police found a sawed-off shotgun while searching a Cabot Street home.

BEVERLY, MA – Beverly police arrested two people on Thursday and charged them with possession of a sawed-off shotgun, and defacing a firearms serial number after officers executed a search warrant.

Jakob Wilson, 18, and Daakwon Royal, 18, both of Beverly, were arrested after police searched a Cabot Street home, after Wilson was arrested earlier in the day.

Wilson and Laciana Sonee Smith, 18, of Beverly, were arrested earlier on Thursday after an incident on Essex Street, according to a press release from Beverly Police. Smith was charged with carrying a stun gun, and possession of ammunition without a firearms identification card.

Wilson was initially charged with larceny over $250, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute Xanax, and larceny of a drug.

During the investigation, officers learned that a shotgun belonging to Wilson was at a Cabot Street residence. After obtaining a search warrant, detectives recovered a shotgun at the residence of Royal. Royal was placed into custody and additionally charged with possession of Hashish and possession of MDMA.

Officers April Clarizia, Ted Lane, and Dean Julien conducted the initial investigation they were assisted by Captain William Terry, Detective Sergeant Mike Cassola, Detectives Darlene Prinz, Tom Nolan, and Josh Pickett, Officer Mike Boccuzzi, and ATF Special Agent Eric Kotchian and his K-9 Claude.
