Beverly Man Arrested on Attempted Murder Charge

The following is an excerpt from the Beverly Police Department's log: 

Friday, May 30:

  • At 4:53 p.m., police responded to a report of of a man harassing a wedding photographer on Cabot Street. The man was told to stay away from the wedding.
  • At 4:53 p.m., police responded to a dispute between neighbors on Ellsworth Avenue.
  • At 5:26 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Essex Street.
  • At 6:15 p.m., police responded to a past larceny on Amherst Road.
  • At 6:38 p.m., police responded to a report of downed wires near the intersection of Cabot and Roundy streets.
  • At 7:20 p.m., police stopped a motor vehicle near the intersection of Sohier Road and Lyman Street. Richard E. Tubbs, 26, of 87, of 7 Bartlett St., Beverly, was arrested on a charge of illegally possessing a class B substance (cocaine). Joshua T. Courtney, 27, of 10 Pleasant St., Beverly, was arrested on charges of illegally possessing a class B substance (cocaine) and operating  motor vehicle with a suspended license.
  • At 8:44 p.m., police responded to a report of kids in a house illegally on Simon Street.
  • At 8:59 p.m., police responded to a three-car motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Cabot and Union streets.
  • At 9:03 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Cabot Street.
  • At 10:32 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Broadway.
  • At 11:05 p.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Broughton Drive.

Saturday, May 31:

  • At 12:33 a.m., police responded to a disturbance on Park Street.
  • At 12:50 a.m., police responded to a report of a "loud explosion" near the intersection of Hale Street and Eisenhower Avenue.
  • At 3:37 a.m., police responded to a report of a fight at the intersection of Hale and Dane streets.
  • At 4:13 a.m., police responded to a reported domestic assault on Rantoul Street. James E. Kennedy, 56, of 215 Rantoul St., Beverly, was arrested on a charge of attempted murder and assault and battery.
  • At 6:59 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Hale and Corning streets.
  • At 8:40 a.m., police responded to an alarm on Conant Street.
  • At 12:12 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Broadway.
  • At 12:31 p.m., police responded to a past vehicle break-in on Enon Street.
  • At 2:10 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Enon Street.
  • At 4:20 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Porter Terrace.
  • At 5:17 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Home Street.
  • At 5:20 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Manor Road.
  • At 5:21 p.m., police responded to an alarm on Federal Street.
  • At 5:36 p.m., police made a warrant arrest on Home Street.
  • At 7:28 p.m., police responded to an alarm on Broughton Drive.
  • At 9:14 p.m., police responded to an alarm on Dodge Street.
  • At 9:22 p.m., police responded to a report of damage to a rock wall on Ellsworth Avenue.
  • At 10:27 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Hull Street.

Sunday, June 1: 

  • At 1:52 a.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on McKinley Avenue.
  • At 1:58 a.m., police responded to an alarm on Brimbal Avenue.
  • At 2:26 a.m., police responded to a medical emergency on Elliott Street.
  • At 2:56 a.m., police conducted a building check on Sohier Road.
  • At 3:25 a.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Trask Court.
  • At 3:27 a.m., police responded to a loud house party on Enon Street.
  • At 5:31 a.m., police responded to an alarm on Dodge Street.
  • At 7:46 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Rantoul Street.
  • At 7:57 a.m., police responded to a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Park Street and Broadway.
  • At 9:36 a.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Kennedy Drive.
  • At 1:55 p.m., police responded to an alarm on Gateway Lane.
  • At 2:08 p.m., police responded to an alarm on Rantoul Street.
  • At 2:17 p.m., police responded to an alarm on Enon Street.
  • At 5:23 p.m., police responded to a medical emergency on Conant Street.
  • At 5:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a child driving a golf cart up and down the road on Dodge Street.
  • At 7:26 p.m., police responded to a possible fight near the intersection of Cabot and Bartlett streets.
  • At 8:21 p.m., police responded to a parking complaint on Grant Street.
  • At 8:31 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Kelleher Road.
  • At 8:39 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Lothrop Street.
Other Arrest

Kenneth K. Karuoya, 17, of 21 Story Ave., Beverly, was arrested on a charge of breaking and entering during the nighttime with intent to commit a felony.
