Police: Repeat Impaired Driver Crashes into Beverly Storefront

The following is an excerpt from the Beverly Police Department's log: 


Sunday, May 4: 

  • At 4:03 p.m., police conducted well-being check on Rantoul Street.
  • At 4:50 p.m., an officer disposed of a hypodermic needle discovered near the intersection of Chapman and Federal streets.
  • At 5:32 p.m., police responded to a report of a person stuck in a tree near the intersection of Dane and Butman streets.
  • At 5:32 p.m., police made an arrest on Rantoul Street. Luis A. Braude, 24, of 61B Gail Drive, Nyack, N.Y., was arrested on a charge of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
  • At 5:32 p.m., police responded to a medical overdose on Elliott Street.
  • At 6:28 p.m., police responded to an alarm on Elliott Street.
  • At 6:37 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Pleasant Street.
  • At 7:26 p.m., police responded to an unattended death on Rantoul Street.
  • At 7:49 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Cabot Street.
  • At 10:51 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Cabot Street.

Monday, May 5: 

  • At 5:13 a.m., police responded to an alarm on Rantoul Street.
  • At 6:12 a.m., police assisted the Massachusetts State Police Department with an arrest on Route 128 North in Beverly following a crash into a storefront. Several pieces of jewelry were located in the passenger's compartment of a UHaul moving truck and taken as evidence. Matthew S. French, 27, of Peabody, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs, second offense and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
  • At 7:50 a.m., police responded to a past break-in on Northridge Road. A resident told police someone broke into their tool shed and stole some gasoline.
  • At 9:10 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Pleasant Street.
  • At 1:18 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Park Street.
  • At 3:28 p.m., police responded to a medical emergency on Ashton Street.
