Beverly Teen Arrested Following Car Crash Last Week

Beverly Police have arrested one teen in connection to last week's car crash at Elliott and Friend Street, which resulted in four being sent to the hospital. 

Police said at approximately 11:50 p.m. officers received report of a serious motor vehicle accident. 

On arrival, officers observed a gray Honda Accord in the middle of Friend Street, with the majority of damage to the rear of the vehicle. Officers also observed a utility pole knocked over and live electrical wires on the ground. 

Police said two of the five occupants were out of the vehicle and sitting on the ground, but none were able, or willing, to provide any details leading up to the accident. 

Police said a witness, who had been driving east on Elliott Street, told officers he observed the Honda heading west on Elliott Street and speeding at an estimated 60 to 70 MPH.

He stated that the vehicle crossed the centerline, then swerved to the right and crashed into a white fence and vehicle parked in the driveway of 1 Friend St, then struck the utility pole. The fence at 1 Friend St. was estimated to be a 20-30 foot section of fence that was damaged.

The driver, Sean Paniagua, 20, Amherst Road, was charged with reckless operation of a vehicle, speeding, and a marked lanes violation.

Police said there was no other vehicle involved in this accident, that they know of.

The four men, all teens from Beverly, were transported to Beverly Hospitalwith non-life threatening injuries. Police said the fifth occupant, also a Beverly teen, fled prior to police arriving because of an active warrant for his arrest.
