Beverly's Cabot Street Rebuild Falls Behind Schedule
Originally scheduled for mid-October completion, the Cabot Street rebuild now will not be completed until next year.

BEVERLY, MA —Work on the $1.6 million rebuild of Cabot Street in Beverly has been suspended until next spring. The project, which includes a new street, sidewalks, lighting and trees in the downtown business district, was originally slated for completion in mid-October. Work on the project started in March.
According to the Salem News, which first reported this story, downtown businesses have lost "a significant amount of business" this year because of the project, which included detours and torn-up roads and sidewalks. City officials say the project is taking longer than expected because of work to clean and line a water main that was first installed in 1904.
