Review: Cabot Theater For Performing Arts

The Cabot Theater for the Performing Arts brings a night of laughs to Cabot St.

Mark Allen Wood
Rumor has it that they say spring is on it’s way to New England and finally on a night where the temperature was finally able to crack 53 a large crowd turned out for a night of comedy at The Cabot Theater for Performing Arts on Cabot Street in Beverly. The night was headlined by Actor/Comedian Tony V who entertained the crowd by telling stories of his past and of his family life. Tony V took us on an energizing and laugh filled journey including a trip with his family to Niagara Falls and for his first adventure to buy a mattress.

Also performing last night was Mike Prior who is a school teacher by day, a comedian by night, and a new husband and father. Mike who is a regular performer at the annual Boston Comedy Festival, he has been featured on Comedy Central and MTV. Brought his nothing but laughs performance and style to The Cabot and I have to say got the loudest applause of the night.

The show was hosted by local comedian Chance Langton who is a nationally known comedian, musician, actor, and writer. Over the past 20 years he has headlined at top comedy clubs across the country. He brought the crowd from dead silent in the opening to nothing but laughs by the end with his unique performing style and appearance which makes for a perfect character and comedian persona.

The Cabot Theater for the Performing Arts is planning to bring local comedy to the North Shore this summer. So save the trip to Boston and stay away from Traffic on Route 1 and head on over to The Cabot the next time they have comedy showcases. Like Tony V said in his closing monolog “let’s keep supporting local comedy although I won’t be here to perform other great performers will be and they need your support”.
