The primary goal of the Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program (AFG) is to enhance the safety of the public and firefighters with respect to fire-related hazards by providing direct financial assistance to eligible fire departments, nonaffiliated Emergency Medical Services organizations, and State Fire Training Academies. This funding is for critically needed resources to equip and train emergency personnel to recognized standards, enhance operations efficiencies, foster interoperability, and support community resilience. Since 2001, AFG grants have helped firefighters and other first responders obtain critically needed resources necessary for protecting the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards.

“Thank you to the Federal Assistance to Firefighters (AFG) Grant Program for awarding this funding to provide driver training for our firefighters. Fire safety grants fund critically needed resources to equip and train our fire department staff, enhance efficiencies and support community resilience while relieving some of the financial stress on our taxpayers.
