Beverly, MA (July 1, 2018)— This spring, the music department at The Children’s Center for Communication/Beverly School for the Deaf was generously loaned two Tactile Audio Display (TAD) pillows for students to experience and enjoy. These pillows allow individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing to feel music much more intensely.
Kelly Surette, CCCBSD’s music teacher, hopes to one day have access to Emoti-chairs, a similar technology to the pillows. “Like the pillows, Emoti-chairs vibrate along with the music due to numerous sensors attached throughout the chair,” says Surette. This turns listening to music into a full body, physical experience.,
Kate Corrigan, teacher of the Deaf, enthused, “My student was immediately dancing in her seat. She LOVED the TAD Inc. pillow!” The technology provides an unmatched experience for students of all types, and CCCBSD looks forward to continuing to explore the possibilities.
