Elderly Driver Told Police He 'Didn't Notice' Flashing Lights, Sirens Behind Him

The following is an excerpt from the Beverly Police log:Â
Monday, Oct. 15
- At 2:57 a.m. police were made aware of two kids on bikes with backpacks, possibly breaking into cars in the Beckford Street area. Police did not find the kids in question.Â
- Police were called to Stop & Shop at 8:22 on report of two suspicious men, described as two males with backpacks, toy water guns, and 'dirty.' They left before police arrived.Â
- At 2:17 p.m., police arrested Piotr Kociszewski, 19, of 31 Simonds St. in Salem, on charges of failure to stop for an officer, reckless operation of a vehicle, assault and battery by means of a vehicle, speeding, failure to stop, and a violation of the city's knife ordinance.
- A vehicle's window was reported maliciously smashed on Cabot Street at 3:06 p.m.
- Police were called to Odell Street on report of a neighbor dispute over yard waste at 4:08 p.m. Police assisted the two in coming to an agreement.Â
- At 5:31 p.m. police were called to a Balch Street apartment on report of a home break-in, where a male reportedly stole cash. The report stated 'cleared, man hallucinating.'
- A home break-in was reported on Longmeadow Road at 9:21 p.m.

- At 9:24 a.m. police arrested Eileen Carey, 49, of 606 Manor Rd., on charges of trespassing and disturbing the peace.Â
- Police were called to Beckford Street on report of a woman yelling at 12:28 a.m. Police said all was quiet in the area, and the call was probably fake.Â
- Police attempted to pull over a driver who was speeding on Brimbal Avenue at 8:55 a.m. Police said they followed the elderly driver with lights and sirens on, but he refused to pull over. When he stopped to get gas, he told police he did not hear the siren or see the cruiser behind him. A citation was issued.Â
- Police were called to Dodge Street at 3:10 p.m. on report of a solicitor reportedly harrassing a woman. Police reports stated the man was asking the woman to purchase items, and she felt uncomfortable. When police arrived there was no one on scene.Â
- At 4:24 p.m. police arrested Paul Gonzales, 51, of 22 Sutton Ave., on charges of domestic assault and battery.Â
- Police dispersed a loud group at the Lynch Park parking lot at 11:03 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 17
- Police were made aware of a suspicious incident that occured on Berrywood Lane the previous day, at 9:01 a.m. The report stated a man was approaching several residents of the neighborhood asking for money.Â
- An incident of road rage was reported at 10:29 a.m. on Hilltop Drive.Â
