BEVERLY, MA — Coronavirus cases continue to drop across the country while the number of those who are fully vaccinated continues to rise, which means there is even more reason to celebrate this Independence Day.

All eyes will be on Boston for the return of fireworks there as most communities have canceled their displays, mostly due to a lack of planning time and an unwillingness to host so many people right now.

The fireworks are at Boston Common, not the Esplanade, and will follow the Boston Pops' 8 p.m. performance in Tanglewood, a music venue in Western Massachusetts.

The Beverly Farms Prides Fourth of July Committee canceled its fireworks and Horribles parade this year amid spring uncertainty about coronavirus pandemic-related restrictions and the lack of fundraising time given that uncertainty.

The nearest fireworks will be Monday night at 9:30 over Gloucester harbor.

However, all was not lost locally. Beverly was to host a House Decorating Contest on July 2 as well as a Family Picnic at Dix Park from 5 to 8 p.m. on July 3.
