Jimmy Dunn brings Boston quality comedy to the North Shore!

Last night at The Cabot in Beverly Comedian Jimmy Dunn who has been seen on shows such as The McCarthy’s and The Late Show with David Lederman brought his new stand up show to the masses. His new show titled “Your Husband is an Idiot” was hosted by Kelly Macfarland and also starred comedian P.J. Thibodeau. This was not your average standup comedy show. This show brought you a Boston quality comedy experience right to the heart of the North Shore’s Art district.

The show opened with comic Kelly Macfarland bringing the crowd into what would be covered in terms of comedy for the night. Her witty jokes and comedy style about bringing her personal life into view for the audience made everyone feel at home. At one point during her opening set the crowd was so entertained they felt that they could have a conversation with her on stage. She was a great person to open as she explains to all of the crowd what it was like to go wedding dress shopping when you’re in your 40’s and what can happen when you’re getting ready to say yes to the dress.

Next up at the show was comedian P.J. Thibodeau who just made the laugh’s continue at full force. His jokes all about how he has made so many mistakes in his relationship with his wife and how he always Is wrong brought everyone to the edge of their seat wanting more. He also had the ability to tell the crowd what it was like to grow up in Rhode Island and what the difference is with living in Beverly when he told some of his jokes which added that local spin the crowd loved. PJ also was able to handle the crowd who was really eager to add their two cents to the show in which PJ showed no hesitation and was able to continue to show adding that to his lineup of comedy.

Now it was time to get the headliner of the night but before Jimmy took the stage on his own we got to the part of the show where we found out all about where the title “Your Husband is an Idiot” came from. This featured a game show style comedy set where they pitted PJ, Jimmy and another local comic against each other in a short little trivia game called HGTV Show or Sex Position. This segment made everyone chuckle as we learned that most men only know one thing either Sex or Sports and nothing in between. As a warmup to Jimmy Dunn this was a perfect setup as once Jimmy took the stage his comedy made everyone not stop laughing. Have you ever wondered what turns men on a lot? Well Jimmy made sure to let everyone know that he loves it when his wife is wearing his clothes and what it is like to find his wife wearing his football jersey and who he thinks it really was in his bedroom. Jimmy’s comedy style just kept coming at you with new one lines and jokes that everyone can appreciate.

Overall this show really brought out the best of the comedy scene here in New England. After going to this show and some in the past Jimmy Dunn’s new show “Your Husband is and Idiot” really makes Beverly feel like it is now on par with show’s that go on at The Wilbur and Laugh Boston. The only difference is the parking is free and you don’t have to drive. Jimmy Dunn brought the house down and should come back to Beverly to woo the crowd again and make everyone feel like they are part of the show. The Cabot Theater in Beverly has brought high quality comedy and theater to the North Shore and they continue to be a valuable asset to the arts community and soon will be the premiere theater in all of Massachusetts.
