The parent company of Northeast Health Systems, Lahey Health, has recently decided to cut four behavioral programs that assist in rape counseling, drug rehabilitation and HIV assistance and mental illness, according to the Gloucester Daily Times. Â
The CEO of Lahey Health Behavioral Services Kevin Norton said that they had wanted to continue to operator the Pioneer House, which dealt with mental illness, but was outbid.Â
Norton said that dropping the Pioneer House as well as three other programs will allow Lahey Health to focus more on the services they are already providing in other areas.
Meanwhile, those other programs are still continuing to operate, only under different management.Â
