Letter to the Editor: The Dangers of Using Reverse 911

Parking ban message includes profanity.

[Editor's Note: The author of this letter originally believed the phone call had come from the Beverly Police Department. That is incorrect. The call originated from the Department of Public Works.]

To Whom It May Concern,

Just figured I'd pass this news tip along as I'm sure the Beverly PD is going to have to answer to some folks who will have been offended.

At around 10:10 this morning, they sent out a Reverse 911 message about the upcoming parking ban. The officer got part way through the message before flubbing some of the words and subsequently dropping the "F" bomb. The message, including the swear, repeats 3 times in the course of the voicemail.

I just feel like they'll have to re-issue the alert as the information re: the parking ban is incomplete, and also at least apologize for the language.
