Live Music Returns To Downtown Beverly In August

Singer-songwriter Tom Rush will perform at the inaugural show on Aug. 7 at 6:30 p.m.

Press release from The Cabot: The Cabot is excited to announce it will bring back live music to downtown Beverly with ‘The Porch Sessions at Hale Farm.’ Singer-songwriter Tom Rush will perform at the inaugural show on Friday, August 7th at 6:30pm. Tickets are on sale on Saturday, August 1st at 10:00am.

The Porch Sessions presented by The Cabot at Hale Farm is located at 39 Hale Street in downtown Beverly. Hale Farm was home to many generations of the Hale family and was once 100 acres that reached the ocean. It now stands as a one acre green space just steps from Cabot Street and the waterfront, and is owned and operated by Historic Beverly. Proceeds from the Porch Sessions concerts will go to support The Cabot's reopening and Historic Beverly.

Now celebrating 52+ years of touring, Tom Rush has been thrilling audiences here and abroad with hits like No Regrets, Circle Game, Remember Song, Urge for Going and Merrimack County. Tom’s impact on the American music scene is unmistakable; he helped shape the folk revival in the ’60s and the renaissance of the ’80s and ’90s, his music having left its stamp on generations of artists. This is Tom's first live performance since all live entertainment was shut down due to Covid-19; Tom himself is a Covid-19 survivor, he announced he tested positive in April and has since made a full recovery.

“After a few very quiet months, we could not be more thrilled to bring live music back safely to Beverly,” said J. Casey Soward, Executive Director of The Cabot. “The safety of our patrons is of utmost importance as we’ve been working through the best way to bring live entertainment back to our community. We’re so grateful to the City of Beverly, Historic Beverly, and our partners for their support in bringing this all together. This is just the beginning of more upcoming entertainment opportunities.”

Social distancing measures will be in place and ticketing will be limited to less than 100 people, with tables spaced over six feet apart. Patrons will be required to complete a COVID questionnaire and wear a mask when entering and exiting the venue, as well as when not at their table. The Cabot will be serving summer beer selections from Newburyport’s Riverwalk Brewing Co. as well as wine and bottled water. Boxed dinners and appetizers will be served by Root, a North Shore non-profit whose mission is to help young adults create a pathway to independence through food service training and employment.
