BEVERLY, MA — It may not have been quite the Fourth of July weekend many envisioned on the North Shore with rain through the first couple of days and most municipal fireworks postponed once again this year.

But it did turn out to be a nice, sunny Monday with clear skies for those venturing to Gloucester or Ipswich for a weather-delayed show Monday night.

Nacho Tacos To Bring Late-Night Dining To Downtown Beverly

Late-night tacos are coming at long last to Rantoul Street.

"We decided to go for it," Nacho Tacos co-owner Shahab Afsharian told Patch. "We figured we would either be the idiots who spent a million bucks opening a taco restaurant (in a pandemic) and fail, or it's going to be great."

Life Time Opening Alters Landscape Of Peabody's Northshore Mall

A trip to the mall could turn into a whole new lifestyle experience on the North Shore.

The outdoor pool area alone — which includes a leisure pool, water slides, spa and resort-style seating that resembles something from a high-end resort on the Las Vegas strip — is enough to turn heads up and down Route 114. But Life Time also includes dedicated areas inside for everything from yoga and pilates classes, to an athletic recovery center to dressing rooms that feature whirlpools and saunas.

Salem Scooter Crash Victim Swerved To Avoid Skateboarder: Police

Salem police on Thursday identified the man killed in the scooter crash on Fort Avenue last Saturday night as 28-year-old Dylan DeSousa, of Salem.

Police said DeSousa was thrown from his motorized Honda scooter in the crash about 7 p.m. and was later pronounced dead at Salem Hospital.

2 Marblehead Beaches Closed Through At Least Monday

Two Marblehead beaches were closed through at least Monday after bacteria tests came back at unacceptably high levels.

Salem Men Charged In North Shore Counterfeit Pill Drug Bust: FBI

Two Salem men were among four people charged on Wednesday in what federal authorities described as a "prolific drug trafficking organization" that supplied counterfeit prescription pills containing fentanyl to buyers on the North Shore.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said the defendants possessed a pill press capable of generating up to 15,000 pills per hour, which they purported to be Percocet, but which instead contained fentanyl.

Peabody Fire Crews Save Ducklings From Hot Storm Drain

Peabody fire crews were the latest to make way for some stranded ducklings Monday afternoon.

After a busy week battling a three-alarm blaze on Warren Street last week, and one hot Monday with 29 calls and 11 inspections, members of Local 925 finished the day with a special save as crews secured five baby ducks from a storm drain while "Momma Duck" patiently waited.
