New Shuttle Service Will Link Beverly, Danvers

North Shore TMA hopes the shuttle will be a model for other communities looking to serve the so-called "last-mile" problem.

BEVERLY, MA -- North Shore Transportation Management Association is accepting bids for an operator of the shuttle service it will operate between Beverly in Danvers. The service, which is scheduled to launch this spring, will run from the Beverly Depot to nearby businesses in Beverly and Danvers, including the Cummings Center.

North Shore TMA hopes the shuttle will be a model for other communities looking to serve the so-called "last-mile" problem of how people who take public transportation to work get from the train station to their office. The idea came from the North Shore Coalition of Mayors and Managers, which received a $125,000 state grant for the pilot program last year.
