North Shore Mediation Center Names New Executive Director

Hannah Bowen, of Beverly, replaces Cynthia McClorey, who is retiring after 22 years.

BEVERLY, MA — The North Shore Community Mediation Center, a non-profit that provides free conflict resolution services to 12 communities in the region, has appointed Hannah Bowen as its new executive director.

The Board of Directors said Bowen, a Swampscott native, Beverly resident and Harvard University Kennedy School of Government alumna, will replace Cynthia McClorey, who is retiring after 22 years of "distinguished service and leadership."

Bowen owns a Masters in Public Administration in international development from Harvard and degrees in political science and Near Eastern studies at Yale. She also served in the Peace Corps in Ghana and has led non-profit organizations in Washington D.C. and Boston.

"She will draw on her past experience in non-profit management to lead the Center forward in our mission of empowering people to transform conflicts into opportunities for mutual understanding, social change, communication and personal growth," the Board of Directors said in a statement.

The North Shore Community Mediation Center has a panel of 43 trained volunteer mediators who are available to all residents at no cost for family mediation, court-referred small claims, workplace conflicts, tenant and landlord disputes, as well as peer mediation at schools.
