“It is an honor to be recognized by the MRPA as this organization and its members do so much to improve the quality of life to the Commonwealth’s resident, by providing diverse recreational opportunities ranging from traditional sports to activities for the disabled,” Parisella said.

Doig said Parisella was honored for his work as a legislator representing Beverly, including securing $50,000 to renovate the historic GAR Hall, which houses veterans groups and programs put on by Beverly’s Recreation Department.

“Representative Parisella has been a major supporter of recreation in Beverly for many years and has helped sponsor Beverly Homecoming by organizing and running an Ice Cream Social at Lynch Park each year during Homecoming and donating all of the proceeds to the Beverly Homecoming Fireworks.  He also sponsors a concert at Lynch Park each summer to help support the Beverly Recreation Department summer concert series,” board President Bruce Doig said.

The MRPA’s Executive Board established this Award as a way to recognize and honor legislators who support Parks & Recreation in their districts and throughout the state, said Doig.
