Person Reports Hearing Noises From Boarded Up House

The following was provided by the Beverly Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Beverly Police log: 

Monday, Sept. 17

  • Police were called to the Elliott and Beckford Street area on report of homeless men with a cardboard sign soliciting work at 11:46 a.m. Police advised them that soliciting and panhandling is unlawful without a permit, and the men left the area. 
  • A school bus was reportedly hit by a Toyota Camry at Beverly High School at 2:49 p.m. Police said the car continued into the parking lot, possibly unaware that the vehicle had struck the bus. Police said the bus sustained a small scratch. 
  • An assault was reported on Echo Street at 3:23 p.m.
  • Police were called to McPherson Drive at 6:59 p.m. on report of an ongoing problem with skateboarders. They were gone when police arrived. 
  • Smoke was reported in a Hayes Avenue residence at 7:58 p.m. The smoke was coming from mulch in a flower bed outside. Beverly Fire extinguished it. 
  • A suspicious man was reported on Dodge Street at 8:44 p.m. Police said he was uncooperative and refused to identify himself other than a hand-written badge. He told police he was finished canvassing for the night. 
  • Police were called to a possible fight on Grant Street at 9:24 p.m. 

Tuesday, Sept. 18

  • Police were called to the corner of Roundy and Rantoul Street at 4:30 a.m., on report of a citizen hearing noises coming from a boarded up house. Police report stated there are signs that someone may be sleeping below the rear deck, but there was no one in the area at the time.  
  • Police were called to West Street at 1:57 p.m. on report of a young child alone on a bicycle. When police arrived the child was on the sidewalk with his/her parent. 
  • A vehicle on Elliott Street was reportedly shot twice with a BB gun at 3:18 p.m.
  • At 6:56 p.m. police arrested Michael Beaulieu, 19, of 21.5 Bowditch St. in Peabody, on charges of domestic assault and battery and assault with a dangerous weapon. 
  • Police were called to Wallis Street on report of an intoxicated man stumbling down the street at 7:02 p.m. He was gone when police arrived. 
  • Police were called to the Beverly/Salem bridge at 8:12 p.m. on report of a suicidal female. 
  • A caller reported his/her vehicle on Enon Street had been vandalized at 8:34 p.m. Reports stated the car's window was smashed and a briefcase was stolen. 

Wednesday, Sept. 19

  • At 2 p.m. police were called to Brimbal Avenue on report of possible fake currency. The $10 bill from the 1950's was taken to the bank and the manager confirmed it was legal U.S. currency.
  • An iPod was reported stolen from a vehicle on Elliott Street at 6 p.m.
  • A neighbor dispute was reported on Courtney Drive at 7:30 p.m.
  • A vehicle was reported broken into on Tozer Road at 8:25 p.m.
  • Four youths smoking marijuana were reported on Rantoul Street at 8:37 p.m.
  • Police were called to Harrison Avenue at 10:24 p.m. on report of a loud bang and the sound of glass breaking. Police spoke to a man who told them he dropped his 12-pack. 
  • Police were dispatched to Knowlton Street at 10:25 on report of a suspicious man walking in resident's yards. Michael Bradley, 42, listed as homeless, was arrested on charges of violating the city's knife ordinance. 

Thursday, Sept. 20

  • At 1:04 a.m. police were called to Dodge Street on report of two men panhandling. Police sent them on their way. 
  • An intoxicated man was reported passed out on a Cabot Street doorstep at 6:58 p.m. He was transferred to the hospital. 
  • Police were called to Rantoul Street at 9:20 p.m. on report of a possible fight. Peter Marchesini, 60, of 276 Rantoul Street, was arrested on charges of domestic assault and battery.
