Police Arrest Intoxicated Man Using Lighter Near Hess Gas Pump

The following is an excerpt from the Beverly Police log:Â
Monday, Nov. 5
- Threats were reported from Broughton Drive at 12:31 a.m. Police said the caller was upset about public posts made on the Internet.Â
- Leftover junk copper was reported stolen on Trask Lane at 9:51 a.m.
- A needle found on Dane Street Beach was removed by police at 2:09 p.m.
- Police were made aware of harrassing text messages at 4:02 p.m.
- Police were called to Hess on report of a drunk man with a lighter near the gas pumps. Police arrested Vincent Peluso, 64, of 93 Cabot St., on charges of disorderly conduct.Â
- Police were called to Pershing Avenue at 5:17 p.m. on report of a tractor trailer that was possibly stuck in the road. Police spoke to the driver, who was not stuck, but was lost, and police provided him with directions.Â
- Police observed a suspicious parked vehicle with three people inside on Eaton Street at 9:41 p.m. The person in the backseat of the vehicle was getting out, but when he noticed the police cruiser, reports stated he jumped back into the car. Police spoke to the individuals and reported smelling a strong odor of burnt marijuana, and observed a large glass marijuana pipe in the backseat. Police searched the car but did not find anything else. The officer recycled the pipe and struck it with his flashlight so it could not be used again. One of the individuals told police he 'would just buy another one online for $50.' Officers reports state 'he then called me his hero'.Â
- Police were called to Putnam Street at 10:18 p.m. on report of kids throwing eggs out of an SUV.Â

- A vehicle was reported 'keyed' in the Beverly Public Library parking lot at 10:21 a.m.
- At 10:50 a.m. police arrested Christine Peckham, 44, of 26 Pleasant St., on two warrant charges.Â
- At 11 a.m. an oil truck got into an accident on Whittier Street and oil appeared to be leaking into the roadway. Beverly Fire Department put down speedy dry and the truck was taken out of service.Â
- A domestic assault was reported on Sargent Street at 11:52 a.m.
- Police were called to Enon Street on report of a young male hitchhiking at 6:34 p.m. He was gone from the area when police arrived.Â
- A vehicle struck a telephone pole on Bridge Street at 8:54 p.m. The driver was transported to the hopsital on report of facial injuries.Â
Wednesday, Nov. 7
- An aircraft was damaged by a construction vehicle at Beverly Airport at 6:43 p.m.
- Police were made aware of a railroad gate that was stuck down on Cole Street at 6:50 p.m.
- A neighbor dispute was reported on South Hardy Street at 2:21 p.m. The argument, according to the report, was over leaves.Â
- A school bus accident was reported on Sohier Rd. at 2:33 p.m.Â
