Police Called for Drunk Man Singing in Street, Suspicious Footprints Around House

The following is an excerpt from the Beverly Police Department:

Wednesday, Jan. 16

  • At 6:25 a.m. a vehicle slid off the road due to snow on Woodland Avenue into a fence on Greene Street.
  • A school bus accident was reported at 6:55 a.m. at the Dodge and Laurel Street intersection. Students were reported on the bus when the incident happened, but scanner reports indicated none were injured.
  • A vehicle slid into a pole on Harrison Avenue at 8:01 a.m.
  • An individual reportedly made threatening remarks to Beverly Hospital staff at 11:07 a.m.
  • A stolen ring was recovered by police at 1:01 p.m.
  • Police were called to Rantoul Street at 7:19 p.m. on report of a group of youths, with one who was possibly passed out. Police discovered one of the youths was extremely intoxicated and possibly under the influence of drugs. The individual was transported to the hospital.
  • Police were called to the Sports Page Pub at 11:15 p.m. on report of a 'large fight in the bar.' When police arrived they discovered there was no fight in the bar, and the customer who was unhappy had left.

  • A vehicle crashed into a tree on Livingstone Avenue at 8:11 a.m.
  • Police were called to Cabot Street on report of a vehicle possibly stolen from a parking lot at 10:11 a.m.
  • Police were called to Bates Park Avenue on report of 'footprints outside the window' of a residence at 2:55 p.m. Police noted while on the scene they saw small and medium sized footprints all around the house.
  • Police were called to a Cabot Street parking lot at 3:26 p.m. on report of two youths fighting. Police said the two boys separated on their own prior to police arrival, and refused medical attention. 
  • At 10:56 p.m. police arrested Roy Dumas, 55, listed as homeless, on two warrant charges.
  • Police were called to Chestnut Street at 11:06 p.m. on report of a drunk male singing in the street. Police advised him to quiet down for the evening.
