Police Find TV Guide From 1971 in Heater

The following is an excerpt from the Beverly Police Department:

Wednesday, Nov. 27

  • A neighbor dispute was reported on Washington Street at 1:23 p.m. Both people were advised to stay off each others property. 
  • At 5:08 p.m. police arrested John Kostrubanic, 49, of 194 Lothrop St., on charges of operating under the influence of liquor and following another vehicle too closely. 
  • Police were called to assist a man whose vehicle had broken down on Route 128 at 5:42 p.m. The individual told police his vehicle broke down, and then he accidentally locked his keys in the car. The vehicle was towed. 
  • A person dressed in black was reportedly seen in yards on Dodge Street at 7:39 p.m. Police searched the area but did not find the person in question.

  • A house fire on Fosters Point was reported at 2:17 a.m.
  • Harassing phone calls were reported from a Rantoul Street residence at 6:42 a.m.
  • Items were reported stolen from Ledgewood Rehab at 1:29 p.m.
  • An oven fire was reported on Essex Street at 2:43 p.m. When police and fire units arrived, the fire was extinguished. 
  • A possible burgulary was reported on Dodge Street at 4:10 p.m. The resident told police he/she arrived home and the doors were open. 
  • Police were called to Roundy Street at 6:16 p.m. on report of smoke in the house. An officer recovered a Sept. 1971 TV Guide in the heating duct work, which was the cause of the smoke. 

Friday, Nov. 29

  • A loud group of Endicott students were reported on Lenox Street at 12:15 a.m. Police arrested Juan Fortich, 21, on charges of disorderly conduct. 
  • A loud party was reported on Rantoul Street at 1:59 a.m.
  • Police were called to a Princeton Avenue residence at 5:06 a.m. on report of an unknown person banging on the door. 
  • Tires on a vehicle parked on Broadway were reported slashed at 7:29 a.m.
